## Description

The Australian Polio Register, established by Polio Australia in 2010, is a vital resource designed to gather data on the number of polio survivors living in Australia. With over 3,920 registered entries, the initiative encourages all polio survivors, regardless of where they contracted the disease, to document their experiences. The Register allows users to explore entries by various criteria, including family name, birth year, and location of contraction, providing comprehensive insights into the prevalence of polio across Australia.

Polio Australia is dedicated to enhancing the quality of support and information available to polio survivors, ensuring their voices are heard with the motto "We're Still Here!" Through their websites, they offer a wealth of resources tailored both for survivors and health professionals, focusing on the late effects of polio. Additionally, they organize events like the Australasia-Pacific Post-Polio Conference, promoting better care and understanding of this condition. The Australian Polio Register is not just a database; it’s a community-driven effort to recognize and support those affected by polio.
