## Description

The Associação de Voleibol do Alentejo e Algarve (AVAL) is a nonprofit sports association founded on 13 May 2011 and based in Castro Verde, Portugal. It supports the sustained development of volleyball across its jurisdiction, which initially covered the Alentejo and later expanded to include the Algarve. The association has grown significantly and is described as Portugal’s second-largest volleyball association.

AVAL organizes and administers a broad regional programme of competitions for players at different stages, from mini-volleyball and youth age groups to junior and senior teams. Its activities include indoor league and cup competitions, outdoor volleyball, and the Gira Volei and Gira Praia circuits. The association also provides practical support for the sport through competition calendars, regulations, registrations, disciplinary information, and referee appointments. AVAL invests in developing the people who make volleyball possible, including coaches: it promotes training courses such as its Grade II volleyball coaching course to strengthen technical skills and support athlete development.
