## Description

AVI – Associação Vida Independente is a Portuguese organization founded in 2017 by people with disabilities and their family members. It is an organization for and led by people with disabilities, working to support independent living and greater self-determination. Based in Braga, AVI puts the Independent Living Support Model into practice by providing personal assistance to eligible people with disabilities.

Through its Centro de Apoio à Vida Independente (CAVI), AVI implements the MAVI pilot project. Its approach places recipients’ choices and autonomy at the centre of support, helping them shape their own lives. The organization also offers training and inclusion-focused activities, including UFCD training courses and the “Capacitar para Incluir” initiative. Its website shares news, events, project information and organizational documents, and provides channels for questions, feedback and complaints.

AVI serves its community from its Braga office and provides contact details for its technical and management teams. Through personal assistance, project delivery and learning activities, the association works toward a society in which people with disabilities can exercise greater independence and participate on their own terms.
