## Description

AVIS Abbiategrasso, also known as the Guido Racchi section, is a local branch of the Italian Blood Volunteers Association, dedicated to promoting voluntary blood donation and supporting the community’s need for blood and its components. Founded in Abbiategrasso in 1936, the association has around 2,000 members and works with public hospital services to encourage a reliable, safe supply through regular, informed, unpaid and anonymous donations. It helps prospective donors understand how to join, provides information about eligibility and healthy living, and offers booking support for donation appointments. Depending on donor suitability and local needs, donations may include whole blood, plasma, platelets or multiple blood components. AVIS Abbiategrasso also welcomes people who cannot donate but wish to volunteer their time. Volunteers can help organize events, staff information stands, support collection activities, explain the value of donation and spread the association’s message. Alongside donor recruitment, the section participates in local initiatives and community events, collaborates with other organizations, and shares news and information through its website and social channels.
