## Description

Avro Energy was a UK energy supplier that provided electricity and gas to households and businesses. The company offered energy tariffs, including default tariffs subject to Ofgem’s price cap, and served approximately 580,000 customers. Avro ceased trading in September 2021 amid a sharp rise in wholesale energy prices and financial pressures that it could not absorb. Its customers were transferred to Octopus Energy through Ofgem’s Supplier of Last Resort process, which maintained continuity of supply and protected domestic customers’ credit balances. The transfer was complex for some account holders, particularly those with data errors or switches already underway, and Octopus Energy handled remaining account corrections and final bills. Avro is no longer an operating supplier, so its former energy services are not available under the brand. Information about Avro now primarily concerns its closure, the reasons for its collapse, and the transition of its customers. Customers seeking help with legacy Avro accounts are directed to Octopus Energy, while Ofgem and Citizens Advice provide general guidance.
