The American Warrior Association (AWA) is a Christ-centered, research-based 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to helping service members, veterans, first responders, and their families heal from moral injury and build resilience. Combining faith, compassion, and evidence-informed approaches, the organization provides support designed to restore hope, strengthen wellbeing, and develop service-minded leaders.

Its programs include Warrior’s Refuge, a five-day faith-based retreat; the R3 Program, which offers peer-led resilience support for police, fire, and emergency medical services agencies; and the Scholar Warriors Program, which provides scholarships for combat veterans and first responders. Peer Support Circles and an alumni wellness portal offer opportunities for continued connection and care. Through the Virtus Project, AWA brings together research and a network of vetted care partners to advance effective responses to moral injury.

The association also supports advocacy and awareness through Moral Injury Awareness Day, the Post-Op Reflections podcast, and The Journey Unbound docuseries. AWA reports serving more than 3,400 people and facilitating over 132 Peer Support Circles.
