## Description

AwakeMUD CE is the community edition of Awakened Worlds MUD, a free, text-based massively multiplayer online game set in Seattle in 2064 and inspired by Shadowrun 3E. It invites players into a future shaped by magic, technology, corporate power, and the aftermath of the SURGE, where humans, elves, orks, trolls, and other altered people share the streets. Players take the role of Shadowrunners: freelance agents who undertake work for organizations and seek profit and influence in a dangerous city.

The game offers several character paths, including Decker, Street Samurai, Adept, Hermetic mage, and Shaman, each associated with distinct approaches to hacking, combat, or magic. Players can connect through the game’s website or telnet at play.awakemud.com on port 4000. AwakeMUD CE also provides community resources through Discord, GitHub, and a wiki, with help available to newcomers on Discord. The game is 100% free and states that it has no microtransactions or cash shop.
