## Description

The Animal Welfare Board of India (AWBI) is a statutory body established in 1962 under the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act. Dedicated to promoting and ensuring animal welfare across the country, AWBI provides vital guidance on animal welfare laws and supports animal welfare organizations through grants. The Board comprises 28 members, including six representatives from the Indian Parliament, who serve a term of three years.

AWBI plays a pivotal role in advising the Government of India on various animal welfare issues, including the management of performing animals, the implementation of animal birth control programs, and regulating dangerous dog breeds. They also publish circulars, advisories, and annual reports to educate and inform the public.
