# A Center for an Arizona Carbon-Neutral Economy - **Website:** - **Primary alias:** `azcane.org` ## Description The Center for an Arizona Carbon-Neutral Economy (AzCaNE) is an Arizona-based initiative working toward a thriving, resilient, carbon-neutral economy in the Southwest by 2050. It brings together public, private, Tribal, academic, and community partners, using transparent analysis and collaboration to identify opportunities, tradeoffs, and strategies that can support lasting prosperity. Its work draws on Arizona’s solar resources, manufacturing base, research institutions, and community leadership. AzCaNE takes a broad approach, recognizing that no single technology can achieve carbon neutrality. Its focus areas include converting agricultural residue, dairy biogas, and other organic materials into renewable fuels and useful products; exploring carbon capture, utilization, and storage; and assessing low-carbon-intensity hydrogen pathways. The center also examines transportation electrification, long-duration energy storage, infrastructure resilience, sustainable land use, and circular economy strategies. Through Arizona Compass 2050, AzCaNE convenes expertise and diverse perspectives to help decision-makers understand pathways toward a carbon-neutral economy.
