## Description

Al-Azhar Park is a 72-acre public green space in the heart of Old Cairo, offering visitors a place to enjoy nature, history and culture. Inspired by historic Islamic gardens, the park features landscaped paths, fountains, a lake and views of Cairo’s historic landmarks. Opened to the public in 2005, it is recognized among the world’s great public spaces and is often described as Cairo’s “green lung.”

The park welcomes families and visitors from around the world with facilities including a children’s area, shuttle bus tours, parking, first aid and disability access. Guests can dine at the Hill-top Restaurant, Lake Side Restaurant and Al Masraweya Cafe, or explore handicrafts, bazaars and festivals. Its event program spans cultural and musical performances, entertainment, fitness activities, workshops and corporate gatherings. Weddings, celebrations and private or commercial events can be hosted in spaces including the Sunken Garden, open areas and Lakeside Restaurant. Al-Azhar Park also connects visitors with the history of Old Cairo through its setting and nearby Islamic monuments, offering a distinctive blend of recreation and heritage.
