## Description

Backcountry Birding is a personal birding and conservation blog documenting a year of purposeful travel and learning across the southern hemisphere. Its author is an avid birder with a strong interest in biodiversity conservation, especially the work of community leaders protecting birds and their habitats. After graduating from Sewanee, the University of the South, in 2022, the author received a Watson Fellowship to spend 2023 exploring the places associated with some of the world’s most iconic birds and meeting people involved in conservation.

The site shares travel stories, photographs, and birding observations, with posts covering destinations including Indonesia, Costa Rica, Argentina, and Paraguay. Readers can also find eBird-related resources, including trip reports, an introduction to eBird, and a link to the author’s eBird profile. Backcountry Birding is an independent blog rather than a commercial product or service provider. Visitors can browse its posts, follow the author on Instagram, Facebook, or LinkedIn, contact the author, and subscribe by email to receive updates when new articles are published.
