## Description

BACKDROP is a splitboarding and backcountry community founded in Norway’s Lofoten Islands. Created by a group of mountain enthusiasts seeking adventure and camaraderie, the collective shares practical knowledge, independent gear insights, and stories from life in the mountains. Its aim is to inform, amuse, and inspire people drawn to human-powered snow adventures, while encouraging riders to stay safe.

BACKDROP produces backcountry films and the FFS podcast, publishes journal articles, equipment reviews, trip reports, and avalanche-safety content, and runs backcountry workshops and skills weeks. It also organizes splitboarding expeditions, hut-to-hut tours, and destination trips, including guided touring and cat-skiing experiences. Its coverage spans locations such as Norway, France, Georgia, Kosovo, and British Columbia.

The site features reviews of equipment tested in the field, with an emphasis on straightforward, independent opinions rather than brand promotion. Visitors can also find playlists, guides, maps, and a shop offering backcountry gear and apparel. Across its content and trips, BACKDROP welcomes snowboarders, skiers, and other mountain lovers who value connection, exploration, and responsible time in the outdoors.
