## Description

BackPacker Coin (BPC) is a cryptocurrency project focused on reducing the friction of currency conversion in travel and hospitality. Its stated goal is to let travelers pay for bookings and reservations using BPC, while giving merchants a way to exchange received coins for other digital currencies. The project describes an ecosystem built around cryptocurrency payments, with low transaction costs tied to transaction size and users retaining control of their funds through private keys.

BackPacker Coin presents its platform as accessible across devices and apps, and outlines features including downloadable wallets, a blockchain explorer, staking, and mining or validation intended to support network security. Its roadmap also describes planned services such as BPC Pay, a multi-cryptocurrency smart wallet, a peer-to-peer exchange, and Smart Global Payment for retailers. The project says its core functionality uses NEM’s Smart Asset Blockchain and that development began in 2018. Through these proposed tools, BackPacker Coin aims to connect travelers and travel-related businesses with digital payments and make cryptocurrency more practical for international trips.
