## Description

Backroads Brazil is a travel writing and publishing project focused on revealing Brazil beyond its familiar beach and city destinations. Through stories, books, and media, it explores the country’s less-visited interior, where local charm and everyday encounters take center stage. The site’s blog features travel reflections and cultural subjects across Brazil, including the Northeast, the Amazon, Minas Gerais, and the colonial port city of Belém. Its posts also cover Brazilian history, religious traditions, regional landscapes, and places that receive little attention from mainstream tourism.

Backroads Brazil is associated with author Ben Batchelder and his book To Belém & Back: Backroads Brazil with my Black Lab. The travel adventure follows Batchelder and his Labrador on a journey from the Brazilian interior into the Amazon and along the Atlantic Coast, including routes described as rarely traveled. The narrative combines road travel and humorous encounters with observations about Brazilian culture and history. The site also offers books and media, shares information about readings and related events, and invites visitors to connect or subscribe for occasional updates.
