## Description

Backwards Capital is an early-stage venture capital fund founded by Chris Zarou, an experienced operator who invests in exceptional founders. The firm partners with ambitious entrepreneurs early, often before their potential is widely recognized, and supports companies as they build and scale. Its portfolio spans a range of businesses, including Whatnot, GHOST, Underdog Fantasy, Order.co, Nucleus, Babylon Biosciences, and other consumer, technology, and commerce ventures.

Beyond providing investment, Backwards Capital offers hands-on strategic support. Founder testimonials describe Chris Zarou as an engaged partner who helps solve business challenges, advises on growth and personnel decisions, and makes introductions through his distinctive network. His background in marketing and consumer businesses informs the guidance he brings to portfolio companies, while his operating experience shapes a practical, founder-focused approach. Backwards Capital aims to add value through thoughtful counsel, meaningful connections, and sustained involvement as companies navigate the demands of early growth. The firm’s stated focus is on backing outlier founders and helping them turn promising ideas into enduring businesses.
