About

Description

Bacu is an independent Canadian construction union that was founded in 1998. Our union was established by tradespeople who sought autonomy for Canadians within the International Bricklayers organization. After several unsuccessful attempts to obtain a fair and equitable relationship, they formed Bacu.

We pride ourselves on being a democratic working persons' organization that is accessible and responsive to our members. Bacu is a grassroots union comprised of ten Local Unions that cover the territorial jurisdiction of the Province of Ontario. Each Local Union has a high degree of autonomy and is guaranteed a voice through our Ontario Council.

We represent various skilled tradespeople, including bricklayers, tile-setters, stone masons, marble masons, restoration masons, and more. Bacu is actively involved in training and funding trade schools for our members' skills. We are also partnered with industry organizations and government bodies to ensure the fair treatment and advancement of our members.
