The Balsillie School of International Affairs (BSIA) is a renowned institute for advanced research, education, and outreach in the fields of global governance and international public policy. Established in 2007 by philanthropist Jim Balsillie, it is a collaborative partnership between the Centre for International Governance Innovation (CIGI), the University of Waterloo (UW), and Wilfrid Laurier University (Laurier). This unique integration of diverse institutions allows BSIA to connect today's experts with tomorrow's leaders in critical debate and analysis. As an affiliate member of the Association of Professional Schools of International Affairs, BSIA is part of a global network of scholars, practitioners, and students. The school's mission is to develop new solutions to humanity's critical problems, improve global governance, and enhance the quality of people's lives worldwide. BSIA offers three graduate programs, including a PhD in Global Governance, a Master of International Public Policy, and an MA in Global Governance. In addition, they publish the Balsillie Papers, a peer-reviewed journal on international affairs. The school is also home to three research centers: the Canadian Network for Research on Terrorism, Security, and Society (TSAS), the International Migration Research Centre (IMRC), and the Laurier Centre for Sustainable Food Systems (LCSFS). BSIA further provides professional development short courses through the Balsillie Executive Institute (BEI).
