## Description

The British Association for Nutrition and Lifestyle Medicine (BANT) is a UK non-profit, volunteer-run professional body for nutrition practitioners. It promotes nutritional therapy, which applies nutrition and lifestyle medicine science to support health, performance and individual care. BANT emphasizes that advice should reflect each person’s health goals, dietary preferences and lifestyle.

The association helps the public find registered nutritional therapists who can recommend personalised, science-based programmes. It also provides food and lifestyle guides, wellbeing guidelines and other resources to support informed health choices. For healthcare providers, BANT offers information about how its members can support patients through individual or group programmes, including support related to IBS, weight management, menopausal symptoms, and metabolic and cardiovascular health.

BANT also supports practitioners through membership, professional resources and opportunities to train in nutritional therapy. Its Nutrition Evidence Database (NED) brings together research in nutrition and lifestyle medicine to inform learning, research and clinical decisions. Through news, events, articles and evidence alerts, the association shares developments in nutrition science and healthcare policy.
