## Description

The Banting Discovery Foundation is a Canadian charitable organization that has supported health and biomedical research since its founding in 1925. Describing itself as Canada’s first health science discovery catalyst, the Foundation focuses on helping early-career researchers pursue innovative work with the potential to make a significant difference to human health. Its Discovery Awards provide funding to promising Canadian scientists, particularly those with limited resources, helping them launch research programs, generate preliminary findings, and build momentum toward further opportunities. The Foundation also offers a Discovery Mentorship Program and the Mitacs-Banting Discovery Postdoctoral Fellowship Program. Through these initiatives, it supports researchers at important early stages of their careers and contributes to the development of biomedical discovery across Canada. The organization shares information about funded research and award recipients, alongside news, annual reports, and the impact of its programs. Donations and volunteer support help sustain its work. In 2025, the Foundation celebrated its 100th anniversary, marking a century of championing emerging scientists and health research.
