## Description

The Bares is a close-knit student wakeboarding club based in Groningen, bringing together sport and social activities. Members meet at the wakeboard cable park at Grunostrand on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays to practise jumps and tricks, then often stay to relax and socialise by the water. The club also arranges training weekends and weeks at wakeboarding locations elsewhere in Europe, winter sports trips, and a range of smaller events throughout the year. Its annual Wakedream Festival is a key part of the club’s event programme.

Prospective members can try the club through a summer trial membership lasting two months. The trial period runs from September 1 to around mid- or late October, with wakeboarding sessions scheduled from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. Alternatively, interested people can contact the club to arrange a visit and try wakeboarding for a fee. The Bares describes itself as a relatively small but strongly connected community, offering an opportunity to learn and practise wakeboarding while enjoying an active student social life in Groningen.
