BARIG, the Board of Airline Representatives in Germany, is an association representing the shared interests of more than 100 national and international airlines across scheduled passenger, leisure and air cargo services. Founded in 1951, it works to improve the conditions for aviation in Germany and serves as a point of contact for policymakers, government agencies, businesses and the media.

The association brings airlines and industry partners together through committees, meetings, events and its member network. Its work covers issues shaping air transport, including climate policy, carbon pricing, sustainable aviation fuel, airport charges, infrastructure, air cargo, passenger rights, noise, security screening and ground handling. BARIG also shares industry news and information, and provides member benefits and opportunities to participate in the association’s activities.

According to BARIG, its member airlines carry around 1.7 billion passengers and more than 25 million tonnes of freight worldwide, serving over 1,500 destinations. In Germany, they transport around 240 million passengers annually to and from the country, and employ more than 100,000 people.
