Bariq is the biggest recycler in the MENA (Middle East and North Africa) region, specializing in PET (polyethylene terephthalate) bottle-to-bottle manufacturing. As a subsidiary of INTRO Resource Recovery Holding, Bariq Egypt is committed to sustainable resources and has become the first food-grade rPET (recycled PET) producer in Egypt. With their state-of-the-art facility, Bariq recycles approximately 1.6 billion PET bottles every year, contributing to the reduction of CO2 emissions and protecting marine life from non-degradable plastics. In 2021, Bariq joined the INTRO Group, strengthening their waste management portfolio. In February 2022, Bariq announced their sustainability strategy and plans to become the biggest recycler in the region. They are adding a washing and upgrading line to their portfolio, increasing their total production capacity to 35,000 metric tonnes of food-grade rPET pellets per year.
