## Description

Barnstaple Carnival is a community celebration in Barnstaple, established in 1931 and returning on Saturday 18 September 2027. The event invites residents, local groups and visitors to share in the carnival spirit and take part in a lively day of entertainment and procession. Individuals can enter on their own or join with family groups, societies, clubs and businesses, making participation open to a broad range of the community.

The carnival’s website provides information about the event, application forms for those wishing to participate, a gallery and contact details. It also encourages people to support the carnival and acknowledges the supporters who help make it possible. The 2027 event is proudly supported by a main sponsor.

Information on the site also lists timings for the 2026 carnival: entertainment begins at 2pm on The Square and The Strand, the procession starts from The Square at 6pm, and fireworks follow at 8pm. Barnstaple Carnival brings people together through public entertainment, community involvement and an annual celebration rooted in local tradition.
