## Description

Baromètre Vélo is a French citizen survey that assesses how suitable communes are for everyday cycling. Established in 2017, it invites both regular cyclists and people who would like to cycle if local conditions improved to share their experiences. The 2025 survey ran online from February to June and asked about safety, journey comfort, local government action, bicycle parking and services, and overall impressions.

Responses are used to calculate commune-level ratings when minimum participation thresholds are met. The platform presents results and rankings, regional trends, and a map highlighting priorities for cycling infrastructure and parking. Visitors can also access open data, commune profiles, regional indexes, and press materials. The survey’s findings are freely available to residents, local authorities, and others seeking to understand cycling conditions and support local mobility planning.

Inspired by Germany’s Fahrradklima-Test, Baromètre Vélo provides a shared way to identify local needs and compare experiences. Its results can help inform cycling policies and support calls for safer, more comfortable routes and better services across France.
