## Description

The British Alpaca Society (BAS) is a dedicated membership organization in the UK, representing approximately 1,800 members and 45,000 alpacas from Cornwall to Northern Ireland. Focused on the welfare and education of alpaca owners, BAS facilitates a wealth of resources through its regional groups, providing support, information, and opportunities to connect with fellow enthusiasts. Members receive a free bi-monthly magazine and regular electronic updates on the latest alpaca initiatives and developments. BAS plays a crucial role in advocating for alpaca owners with government entities like DEFRA and APHA. The Society maintains a comprehensive pedigree register for alpacas in the UK and offers an import screening service to ensure high standards for new additions to the national herd. Additionally, BAS manages a vibrant national show circuit featuring over 20 events annually, showcasing the beauty and diversity of alpacas while promoting best practices in breeding, care, and welfare across the community. Whether you are a seasoned breeder or an aspiring alpaca owner, BAS is your go-to resource for all things related to these charming animals.
