## Description

Basin Burnout Foundation is a Midland, Texas-based 501(c)(3) public charity that brings the Permian Basin community together to honor and support veterans. Founded in 2016, the organization produces Basin Burnout, an annual, family-friendly charitable event featuring amateur barbecue competition, live music, and opportunities for local businesses and professionals to connect. The event invites attendees to sample barbecue and vote for a fan favorite, while exhibitors showcase their businesses and sponsors and competition teams build relationships. Participants can get involved as sponsors, exhibitors, competitors, volunteers, or attendees. Basin Burnout also provides grant requests as part of its veteran-focused charitable work. The foundation reports raising more than $600,000 for causes supporting veterans. Its 2026 event drew more than 5,500 attendees and included over 45 cooking teams, 20 exhibitors, more than 50 sponsors, and 10 or more military organizations. The 2027 event is scheduled for May 1 at Midland County Horseshoe Arena, with registration expected to open in August 2026.
