## Description

The Blinded American Veterans Foundation (BAVF) is a non-membership organization that aims to support blind and visually-impaired veterans in reaching their full potential through research, rehabilitation, and reintegration. As a nationwide focal point, BAVF offers various programs and initiatives to empower and assist veterans. Their areas of focus, known as the 3 R's, include research, rehabilitation, and reintegration. BAVF conducts medical research on blindness and visual impairment, as well as the development of improved prosthetics for veterans. They also provide outreach and information programs to raise awareness and address personal issues of blind and visually-impaired veterans. Furthermore, BAVF offers grants to VA Medical Centers and Blind Rehabilitation Centers to fund crucial resources and training programs. In addition to rehabilitation efforts, BAVF is dedicated to combating social isolation among veterans. They have developed programs like the Flag Replacement Program, which allows blind and visually-impaired veterans to engage with their communities and replace worn-out American flags. Since 1985, the BAVF has made a significant impact through their research, grants, and resources, improving the lives of thousands of blind and visually-impaired veterans. Their commitment to empowering veterans and promoting independence is unparalleled.
