BAWT (Bay Area Wilderness Training) is dedicated to creating equitable access to outdoor experiences for low-income and BIPOC youth. Since 1999, we have been on a mission to empower youth workers and educators by providing them with the necessary skills and gear to take young people in their communities outdoors. We believe that everyone deserves to experience the transformative power of nature.

Our organization values social justice and equity, environmental stewardship, and community empowerment. Through training programs like Frontcountry Leadership Training, Wilderness Leadership Training, and Wilderness First Aid, we equip leaders with the knowledge and confidence to lead successful outdoor trips. In addition, our Gear Library offers a wide range of equipment that trip leaders can borrow to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for their participants.
