## Description

The Bay Area Black Nurses Association (BABNA), Oakland Chapter, is a community-focused nursing association dedicated to strengthening local nursing and advancing health advocacy. Its vision includes growing chapter membership and participation, supporting more comprehensive care for the community, and contributing to health policies and issues at local, state, and national levels. BABNA has recruited African Americans into schools of nursing for over 50 years and encourages student nurses and licensed vocational nurses, including those working toward registered nurse credentials, to take part. The association offers a mentorship program and scholarship program, along with opportunities to volunteer and participate in community outreach and service. Its committees include legislative and community outreach service groups, and the organization provides resources, events, and ways to request volunteer service. BABNA also aims to prepare student nurses to become future chapter leaders. Based in Oakland, California, the association welcomes people interested in membership, nursing education, community service, and health advocacy. Its message emphasizes embracing a healthy community and sharing practical public health reminders.
