## Description

The Zentrum Hochschule und Nachhaltigkeit Bayern (BayZeN) is a collaborative network focused on advancing sustainability and climate action across higher education institutions in Bavaria. Bringing together 34 state and state-recognised universities, it works to improve the conditions for institution-wide sustainability efforts. Its community includes teaching and research staff, employees, students and university leaders.

BayZeN connects higher education institutions and interested individuals, encourages scholarly discussion, advises on embedding sustainability across institutions, and shares information to support transparency. Members can take part in working groups covering areas such as teaching, research, campus operations, governance, knowledge transfer, student initiatives, arts and communication, and entrepreneurship. The network also hosts information sessions and networking events, and publishes a newsletter, activity reports and practical materials.

Its resources include N.ReM, a proposed tool for structuring sustainability reporting and monitoring, and the Bayernzertifikat, which offers guidance and quality criteria for extracurricular sustainability certificates. BayZeN also supports collaborative projects, including REKLINEU, which seeks to foster a culture of sustainability at participating universities and advance pathways toward climate-neutral campuses.
