Big Brothers Big Sisters of Mid-Maine is a youth mentoring organization that aims to help children realize their potential and build a brighter future. With a mission to create and support one-to-one mentoring relationships, they work to ignite the power and promise of youth in Androscoggin, Kennebec, Knox, Lincoln, Penobscot, Somerset, and Waldo Counties. By partnering with parents, guardians, volunteers, and members of the community, they are accountable for each child in their program achieving higher aspirations, greater confidence, and better relationships, while avoiding risky behaviors and achieving educational success.

Big Brothers Big Sisters offers two primary programs: School-Based (SBM) and Community-Based (CBM) mentoring. These programs make meaningful, monitored matches between adult volunteers, known as Bigs, and children, or Littles, aged 6 to 18. The organization believes in the inherent ability of every child to succeed and thrive in life, and their positive relationships have a direct and lasting effect on the lives of young people.
