## Description

Backblocks Environmental Management Ltd is a New Zealand conservation services company based in the Wairarapa and working nationwide. It helps conservation projects, land managers and community groups protect threatened wildlife, restore habitats and improve biodiversity. Its services include predator and pest control, species monitoring, site assessments, ecosystem restoration, and management of ungulates such as pigs, goats and deer. The company also supports environmental programmes on farms and in forestry, including restoration and pest control.

Backblocks combines practical, on-the-ground work with planning, advice, training, mentoring and auditing. Owner and director John Bissell brings lifelong conservation experience, including work as a ranger, trapper and hunter, alongside environmental planning and project management expertise. The company draws on both scientific knowledge and field skills, and can call on a hand-picked network of specialists when projects require additional expertise.

Backblocks takes a flexible, outcomes-focused approach, aiming to find effective solutions while meeting compliance requirements and prioritising safety. Clients work directly with John and receive personal service, clear communication and support tailored to their project.
