# BBNJ Symposium - **Website:** - **Primary alias:** `bbnjsymposium.org` ## Description The BBNJ Symposium Series is an international event series supporting the implementation of the Biodiversity Beyond National Jurisdiction (BBNJ) Agreement, which addresses the conservation and sustainable use of marine biodiversity in areas beyond national jurisdiction. It brings together scientists, policymakers, governments, industry representatives, civil society, academia, and other stakeholders to encourage interdisciplinary dialogue and collaboration on ocean governance. Since its inaugural meeting in Edinburgh in 2023, the series has convened participants to explore the Agreement’s opportunities, ratification, and implementation. The second symposium took place in Singapore in 2025, drawing almost 450 in-person and online participants and incorporating perspectives from the Asia-Pacific region. The third gathering was held in Rio de Janeiro in March 2026, with 49 panellists and participants from multiple sectors. Its focus was the role of science and knowledge in implementing the Agreement, with perspectives from Latin America. The series offers symposium programmes, speaker information, meeting reports, session recordings, and photo archives. ## Industries - 🧪 Science and Education - 🧪 Environmental Science _(under Science and Education)_ - ⚖️ Law and Government ## Logos & icons - logo _(primary)_ — PNG — [download](https://cdn.brandfetch.io/idKhT0qcx7/w/180/h/180/theme/dark/logo.png?c=1bxid64Mup7aczewSAYMX&t=1790782271804) ## Colors | Name | Hex | Theme | | --- | --- | --- | | Dove Gray | #717171 | accent | | Mine Shaft | #333333 | dark | | White | #ffffff | light | --- _Source: _ _See [/llms.txt](/llms.txt) for a full list of agent-readable pages, and [/auth.md](/auth.md) for how agents authenticate._
