BC Centre on Substance Use (BCCSU) is a leading brand focused on addressing substance use and related harms in Canada. With an estimated one in five Canadians impacted by substance use, BCCSU aims to bridge the gap in the existing health system. Established in 2017, BCCSU is dedicated to providing a center of expertise to meet the diverse needs of individuals struggling with addiction.

Through a collaborative and evidence-based approach, BCCSU offers a wide range of products and services. Their research program focuses on multidisciplinary studies, evaluation, and quality improvement to drive improvements in the health system. BCCSU also prioritizes education and training, strengthening addiction medicine education across disciplines and training the next generation of interdisciplinary leaders.

Furthermore, they develop evidence-based clinical practice guidelines and treatment pathways to provide guidance for healthcare professionals. BCCSU operates as an academic center, affiliating with Providence Health Care, Providence Research, and the University of British Columbia Faculty of Medicine. They are supported by the Province of BC and aim to shape a comprehensive and connected system of treatment and care for all British Columbians.
