## Description

The Botswana Council for the Disabled (BCD) is a non-profit, non-governmental organization established in 1980 to address the limited attention given to people with disabilities in Botswana. It works with member organizations and prospective members to strengthen disability services and promote inclusion across the country.

BCD coordinates services provided by disability organizations, mobilizes resources, and offers monitoring and technical support to its members. Its work also includes public awareness and education on disability issues, capacity building, and commemorating international disability days. Through projects and partnerships, the council supports initiatives related to special education, transition to community life, and access to health and human rights services for people with disabilities.

BCD provides information about disability-related services and processes, including disability certification and grant eligibility. It also connects people interested in volunteering with suitable member organizations, although it does not offer its own volunteer program or internships. Based in Gaborone, the council shares news, events, and educational resources to keep communities informed and encourage stronger support for people with disabilities.
