BC Schizophrenia Society

BC Schizophrenia Society is a non-profit organization that was founded in 1982 by families and friends of people with schizophrenia. Over the years, it has developed into a province-wide family support system. The society is dedicated to providing support, education, and advocacy for individuals and families affected by schizophrenia and other serious mental illnesses in British Columbia.

Their vision is to create a province where those affected by mental illnesses receive effective treatment and support, and family members are essential partners within the mental health system. To achieve this, BCSS offers a range of programs and services including family support groups, education presentations, and advocacy initiatives. They also conduct research projects and provide gap-funding to schizophrenia research.

BC Schizophrenia Society operates based on core values such as being family-centered, fostering partnerships and respect, promoting innovation and improvement, and maintaining accountability and transparency.
