## Description

Beacon Dementia and Wellbeing is a registered charity supporting people living with dementia, their carers, and others experiencing loneliness or isolation. Based in Rossendale, the organisation takes a relationship-led, inclusive approach, focusing on people’s abilities, interests and wellbeing. Its support is designed to benefit the whole family, recognising that dementia affects carers and loved ones as well as the person diagnosed.

Services include social events, wellbeing groups, a dementia carers’ group, volunteering opportunities and the dementia-friendly Beacon Shed, where people can take part in woodworking and other activities. Beacon also offers personalised support through Beacon at Home and runs Rossendale Dementia Hubs, a National Lottery-funded project that began in May 2025. These services provide opportunities to connect, participate and build a sense of purpose and belonging. The organisation welcomes people who simply want to meet others and enjoy a friendly conversation. Beacon Dementia and Wellbeing received the Independent Small Provider Award at the UK Dementia Awards 2026, recognising its compassionate, creative work and positive impact in the community.
