## Description

The International Walther Bensemann Memorial Tournament, also known as the Bensemann-Cup, is a youth football event honoring Walther Bensemann, a pioneer of German football and founder of the Kicker magazine. Bensemann championed international encounters, an open society and European unity, and the tournament carries these ideals into the present. Organized by the German Football Association (DFB) and Makkabi Deutschland in cooperation with the !Nie wieder initiative, the event brings together under-17 players from leading teams in Germany, elsewhere in Europe and Israel. The 2025 tournament is scheduled for September 5–7 at the DFB Campus in Frankfurt am Main. Alongside the matches, participants and supporters can take part in workshops, conversations with Holocaust survivors, talks and evening events. These activities encourage dialogue and promote justice, tolerance, humanity and peace. The tournament combines competitive football with education and remembrance, giving young players an opportunity to engage with Bensemann’s vision of understanding between nations. It continues a tradition founded in 1934, with the first edition held in 1937.
