Bent on Learning is a nationally recognized nonprofit brand dedicated to empowering youth with transformative life skills. Their mission is to teach kids that they have everything they need—their body, mind, and breath—to cultivate physical, mental, and emotional well-being through yoga. What started in 2001 as a small, volunteer effort by three yoga teachers has now grown to serve 76 schools and over 22,000 students across New York City.

Bent On Learning makes yoga and mindfulness a core component of the school day for students ranging from Pre-K to 12th grade. Their classes provide kids of all backgrounds and abilities with opportunities to connect with their inner lives, build self-esteem, develop a growth mindset, and create positive relationships with peers, adults, and themselves. With the current pandemic, the need for an educational approach that includes physical health, mindfulness, and emotional well-being has become more crucial than ever.

Yoga has been shown to alleviate issues such as anxiety and depression by teaching students to be calm, compassionate, strong, and resilient.
