## Description

BERG Mt Martha, the Balcombe Estuary Reserves Group, is a community friends group dedicated to preserving and restoring the distinctive ecology of the Balcombe Estuary and its surrounding reserves. Based in Mt Martha, the organisation brings local people together to care for these natural areas through practical conservation, environmental monitoring and community engagement.

Its activities include removing weeds, planting indigenous species, monitoring water quality through WaterWatch and EstuaryWatch, and addressing drainage and sedimentation issues. BERG Mt Martha also conducts flora and fauna surveys, supports projects, and works with schools and universities. Through community education, talks to local groups and advocacy with government, it helps raise awareness of the reserves and their ecological needs.

The group encourages people to get involved through volunteering, membership and donations. Visitors can explore information about the reserves, their history, flora and fauna, and enjoy educational audio trails designed for adults and children. BERG Mt Martha also shares news, publications, events and resources to keep the community informed about its work and opportunities to participate.
