During this endeavor, Thornley discovered his natural talent for sourcing reclaimed materials and antique fittings, which were highly sought after by interior architects and designers. Inspired to share these unique finds with a wider audience, Thornley started importing reclaimed tiles and, in 2010, met Juanma, owner of a family business specializing in artisan encaustic tiles. This meeting led to the reopening of the family factory, and Bert & May officially launched in 2013. Since then, they have become renowned as a go-to specialist supplier of handmade artisan tiles in curated colors. With showrooms in London and Chelsea, their collection continues to impress with its quality and design.
