## Description

The Berwyn Heights Historical Committee is a community organization dedicated to uncovering, preserving, and sharing the history of Berwyn Heights, Maryland. Through its website, Uncovering the Past, the Committee presents research and stories about the town’s development, landmarks, historic homes, and the people who shaped the community. Topics include the Berwyn Heights Association and Company, local streets and historic markers, the Sportland Boxing Ring, and the Washington, Spa Spring & Gretta Railroad. Articles draw on historical records, personal recollections, photographs, and published histories to explore subjects such as the town’s incorporation, its earlier identity as Charlton Heights, and the origins of the name Berwyn. The Committee also highlights significant buildings, including Berwyn Chapel and the Lake House, and traces the roles of early residents, developers, and community groups. Visitors can browse historical resources, follow links to related material, submit feedback through the contact form, or attend regular meetings held on the fourth Wednesday of each month at the G. Love conference room.
