## Description

Betterbird is a community-developed soft fork of Mozilla Thunderbird, designed to build on the established email client with additional features, bug fixes and improvements. The project aims to offer users a more refined email experience while remaining compatible with Thunderbird profiles, so both programs can be installed and used with the same profile. Betterbird includes options such as multi-line message lists, vertical tabs, account colours, adjustable layouts, enhanced search and filtering, message-thread controls, and system-tray features. It also provides updates through regular releases, with release notes, system requirements, FAQs, expert tips, add-ons and support information available on its website.

The software is offered for Windows, Linux and macOS, including a portable Windows version and builds for Intel and Apple Silicon Macs. Localisations are available in several languages, with additional language packs and languages available on request. Users can obtain Betterbird through the project’s downloads and source-code repository, as well as selected package platforms. The project also publishes a blog and accepts donations, with a shop listed on its site.
