## Description

Beutner Laboratories is a specialized diagnostic laboratory focused on immunologic testing for bullous, vascular, connective tissue, and inherited skin diseases. Founded by immunodermatology pioneer Dr. E. H. Beutner, the laboratory builds on a history of research into autoimmunity in pemphigus and pemphigoid. Its directors and experienced personnel focus on diagnostic studies of the skin and mucous membranes, emphasizing accurate, reliable results and consultation for clinicians.

The laboratory offers disease-specific testing for conditions including bullous pemphigoid, pemphigus, dermatitis herpetiformis, mucous membrane pemphigoid, celiac disease, and chronic ulcerative stomatitis. Its services include skin and mucosal biopsies, testing for hereditary epidermolysis bullosa, and immunofluorescence proficiency testing. Beutner Laboratories also provides diagnostic kits and guidance on test requests, specimen collection, packaging, shipping, billing, and insurance. The laboratory reports typical turnaround times of 48 to 72 hours for biopsies and five to seven days for serum tests. It also states that it is the only U.S. laboratory approved for clinical testing of laminin 332 mucous membrane pemphigoid.
