## Description

The Botanischer Garten Berlin is a botanical garden, museum and international center for botanical knowledge in Germany’s capital. Its 43-hectare grounds bring together nearly 20,000 plant species, reflecting a vision established more than a century ago: to present the world’s plant diversity in one garden. Visitors can explore the gardens and greenhouses, discover plants from around the globe, and take part in guided tours and workshops. The 2026 program includes activities such as nature journaling, herb gardening and workshops for children. The garden also hosts Christmas Garden Berlin, a seasonal light-art event.

The associated Botanical Museum focuses on the plant world and its cultural and natural history. It is currently closed while being redesigned and renovated, with a new visitor experience expected after the project, scheduled to continue through 2027. Beyond public visits, the institution conducts international research into the diversity of plants, fungi and algae, sharing its findings worldwide. It also offers free botanical advice for Berlin residents and free mushroom consultations.
