# Biblioteca Pleyades - **Website:** - **Primary alias:** `bibliotecapleyades.net` ## Description Biblioteca Pleyades is a brand dedicated to overcoming legal obstacles in order to facilitate the sharing of knowledge and creativity. As a nonprofit organization, their mission is to address pressing global challenges. They achieve this by providing Creative Commons licenses and public domain tools, which allow individuals and organizations worldwide to grant copyright permissions for creative and academic works. These licenses ensure proper attribution and enable others to copy, distribute, and make use of the works. Biblioteca Pleyades works closely with major institutions and governments to promote open licensing and the correct use of CC licenses and content. They also support the CC Global Network, a community initiative that aims to increase the volume, breadth, and quality of openly available knowledge worldwide. In addition, they offer the Creative Commons Certificate, an in-depth course for those interested in becoming experts in creating and engaging with openly licensed works. They run various programs, including the CC Open Culture Program and the CC Open Education Program, which aim to foster a thriving open culture ecosystem and ensure publicly funded knowledge is freely available for everyone. Biblioteca Pleyades also leads the Open Climate Campaign and the Open Climate Data project to promote open access to knowledge and address climate change. Through their initiatives, Biblioteca Pleyades brings together educators, artists, technologists, legal experts, and activists at the annual CC Summit to advocate for the power of open licensing and global access. They support global Open Education and GLAM (Galleries, Libraries, Archives, and Museums) communities and provide training, consulting, and technology platforms. Explore their collection of resources, including literary works, videos, photos, audio, open education, and scientific research, or contribute your own work to their global commons.
