## Description

The British and Irish Hypertension Society (BIHS) is a prominent registered charity dedicated to advancing the understanding and management of hypertension and cardiovascular disease across the UK and Ireland. Founded in 1981, the Society has evolved into a multidisciplinary forum that encompasses a wide range of healthcare professionals, including physicians, nurses, researchers, and clinicians.

BIHS focuses on a comprehensive approach to hypertension through various initiatives: developing and regularly updating internationally acclaimed management guidelines, offering an Information Service for healthcare providers, and providing a Validation Service for blood pressure monitor manufacturers. The Society also engages in coordinating collaborative research and hosts an Annual Scientific Meeting each September, covering critical topics in hypertension and cardiovascular health.

With specialized standing committees and interest groups, BIHS fosters educational opportunities, including workshops and competitions, aimed at enhancing knowledge and research in the field. Through these efforts, BIHS strives to reduce the burden of hypertension-related health issues in the community.
