## Description

BIOPAMA, the Biodiversity and Protected Areas Management Programme, is a significant initiative supported by the European Union and the African, Caribbean, and Pacific (ACP) Group of States, with a robust investment of €60 million through the 11th European Development Fund. As one of the largest EU biodiversity programmes, BIOPAMA focuses on enhancing the management and conservation of protected areas across 79 countries, which house over 9,000 protected areas. This programme blends the expertise of the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) with the scientific insight of the European Commission's Joint Research Centre, offering tailored capacity development, tools, and financial support to protected area actors. The BIOPAMA network collaborates with regional organizations and local communities to address specific ecological, social, and cultural challenges, ensuring that conservation efforts are effective and sustainable. With its comprehensive resources and strong partnerships, BIOPAMA plays a vital role in safeguarding biodiversity and promoting sustainable management practices in some of the world's most diverse and vulnerable regions.
