## Description

Biosfæren is a biodiversity conservation centre being developed in central Randers, Denmark. Its purpose is to help protect and restore biodiversity by bringing together research, innovation, businesses, public institutions and citizens. The centre aims to turn research-based knowledge and genetic resources into practical conservation action, with work spanning local initiatives and international partnerships.

Planned activities include a cryogenic gene bank for preserving biological material, living landscape laboratories and co-creation projects. Biosfæren also intends to make biodiversity accessible through interactive visitor experiences exploring ecosystems, the biodiversity crisis and possible conservation approaches. Its facilities are planned to host visits, talks, conferences and meetings.

The centre’s initiatives also include ORIGENAL, a food label connected to sustainable food, and hands-on cooking experiences using its ingredients. Visitors are expected to find BEVARBAR, a dining space focused on sustainable food, and GEN-BRUGS, where seeds and other products will be available. Biosfæren’s broader vision is to demonstrate how sustainability and innovative solutions can support biodiversity while helping transform a former industrial site into a greener destination.
