## Description

Swissinsect GmbH is a Swiss company producing protein-rich insects to support a more locally resilient food supply. Founded in 2022 and based in Hergiswil, in the canton of Nidwalden, the company develops insect protein for use in the food industry and highlights it as an alternative to conventional meat. Swissinsect’s work is focused on producing high-quality protein in Switzerland, for Switzerland, while helping reduce the environmental impact of food and pet food industries. The company presents insect protein as a resource-efficient option, with lower greenhouse gas emissions and water use per kilogram of protein than beef. Its vision is to make proteins locally, care for the environment and contribute to a more secure food future. Swissinsect also shares updates through its website, including information about its products, company, and progress toward Bio Suisse certification for all its products. By connecting Swiss production with emerging protein needs, the company aims to contribute to greater food autonomy and offer an alternative source of protein for industry.
